SEO Campaign Template

This is the campaign structure we run for real retainer clients: six phases that unlock in order, so foundations are fixed before content is written and content exists before links point at it. Copy it as-is or trim phases to fit the engagement.

Phase 1 — Technical foundation (weeks 1–2)

Full technical crawl & audit (indexation, status codes, redirects)
Fix crawl blockers: robots.txt, sitemap, canonical errors
Core Web Vitals baseline + fix the worst offenders
Set up/verify Search Console & GA4, annotate the start date
Fix broken internal links and redirect chains

Phase 2 — Keyword & competitor research (weeks 2–3)

Seed keyword list from services, locations and sales questions
Map keywords to existing pages; flag gaps with no page to rank
Competitor gap analysis: what they rank for that you don't
Prioritize by intent + difficulty into a 6-month target list
Write the keyword map into the content plan

Phase 3 — On-page optimization (weeks 3–6)

Rewrite titles & metas for the priority pages (pixel-checked)
Fix heading hierarchy and thin sections on money pages
Add/repair schema: LocalBusiness, FAQ, Service, Breadcrumbs
Internal linking pass: money pages get links from every relevant page
Image pass: alt text, compression, next-gen formats

Phase 4 — Content production (ongoing from week 4)

Brief each priority gap page (target keyword, outline, entities)
Draft, edit and publish on the agreed cadence
Refresh the top 5 decaying posts (update, expand, re-date honestly)
Interlink every new piece from older relevant content

Phase 5 — Authority & local (ongoing)

Fix/claim Google Business Profile; weekly posts if local
Citation cleanup: NAP consistency across the top directories
Digital PR / linkable asset for the strongest content piece
Monitor new links & disavow only if clearly toxic at scale

Phase 6 — Measurement & iteration (monthly)

Monthly report: rankings, clicks, conversions vs. baseline
Re-crawl quarterly; fix regressions same-week
Re-prioritize the keyword map from what's actually moving
Quarterly strategy review with the client
